This bill requires all public schools in Georgia to have at least one functional automated external defibrillator (AED) on-site and easily accessible during all school hours and school-related functions. It also establishes requirements for schools, such as ensuring AED users receive proper training, notifying emergency medical services of the AED's location, maintaining and testing the AED, and involving a licensed physician in the AED program. The bill requires schools to create emergency action plans for responding to cardiac emergencies, conduct practice drills, and establish internal response teams to oversee emergency responses. The Department of Education is expected to provide funding to local school systems to assist with the purchase of AEDs.
