This bill authorizes taxicabs, limousines, and transportation network companies to provide paratransit services for a two-year period. Paratransit services refer to transportation services, other than fixed-route transportation, provided to comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act. The bill requires paratransit providers that used taxicabs, limousines, or transportation network companies during this period to submit a report to the Department of Transportation (DOT) on the number of rides, any safety or other violations, and any accidents. After the two-year period, the DOT, in consultation with other state agencies, must submit a report to the Governor and Legislature evaluating the efficacy of allowing these entities to provide paratransit services and recommending whether to make the temporary provision permanent.
