This bill mandates that individuals holding certain alcoholic beverage licenses in New Jersey must carry alcoholic beverage liability insurance, a type of insurance that covers damages or injuries resulting from the sale or service of alcohol, unless they already have a commercial general liability policy that includes this coverage. This requirement applies to a wide range of licenses, including those for breweries, wineries, distilleries, restaurants, clubs, sports facilities, and casino hotels, among others, and the insurance policy must be for at least $500,000. License holders will have 60 days from the bill's effective date to provide proof of this insurance to the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, and thereafter, it will be a condition for annual license renewal. Failure to comply with these insurance requirements can lead to the suspension or revocation of the license, and the law will take effect 90 days after it is enacted.
