Bill Summary

This bill requires that any health care provider employed by an urgent care facility in this State is to possess the same credentials or degrees that would be required of the health care provider if that health care provider was employed in an emergency room department of a general acute care hospital licensed pursuant to P.L.1971, c.136 (C.26:2H-1 et seq.). The bill defines "urgent care facility" to mean a health care facility that offers episodic, walk-in care for the treatment of acute, but not life-threatening, health conditions. The bill defines "health care provider" to mean an individual who provides a health care service to a patient, and includes, but is not limited to, a licensed physician, nurse, nurse practitioner, or any other health care professional acting within the scope of a valid license or certification issued pursuant to Title 45 of the Revised Statutes.

AI Summary

This bill mandates that healthcare providers working in urgent care facilities must hold the same credentials and degrees as those required for healthcare providers in hospital emergency rooms, ensuring a consistent standard of care for acute but not life-threatening conditions. An "urgent care facility" is defined as a place offering immediate, walk-in treatment for non-life-threatening illnesses, while a "health care provider" encompasses any individual licensed or certified to provide medical services, such as doctors, nurses, and physician assistants.
