This bill requires each public school that has a school library to post for public inspection on the school's website in an easily accessible location a comprehensive list of every resource that is available in the school library, including but not limited to, books, periodicals, DVDs, and databases, offered in print or digitally. Any new resource ordered or purchased is required to be added to the list within 10 days of the order or purchase. Under the bill, the school library media specialist who oversees the school library is responsible for ensuring that the list is updated and posted on the school's website. In the event that a school does not employ a school library media specialist, the principal of the school is required to appoint existing staff members to oversee the cataloging of the library resources.

AI Summary

This bill requires every public school with a school library to create and post a complete list of all its available resources, such as books, magazines, DVDs, and digital databases, on its website in a place that's easy for the public to find. This list must include items available in both physical and digital formats. Any new materials acquired by the library must be added to this list within 10 days of being ordered or purchased. The school library media specialist, who is the professional responsible for managing the school library, is tasked with keeping this list current and ensuring it's posted online. If a school doesn't have a dedicated library media specialist, the principal must assign other staff members to manage the cataloging of library resources to comply with this requirement.
