This resolution urges educational institutions in New Jersey to include veterans and active service members in discussions about the military, military values, and leadership. Learning about the military, military values, and leadership from veterans and active service members can help a student to better understand and appreciate active service members, veterans, and fallen heroes. Educational institutions have a unique opportunity to foster a relationship between a student and service members of the United States Armed Forces through discussions, events, and campus involvement. Veterans and active service members possess qualities that should be instilled in a student, including the ability to lead by example, adaptability, loyalty, and respect. Learning military values from a veteran or active service member can foster a culture of teamwork, excellence, and respect within schools. Learning from a veteran or active service member about the selfless service of the members of our country's armed forces can teach a student to respect and appreciate active service members, as well as veterans and fallen heroes. Lessons on the military may lead a student to enlist in the United States Armed Forces, thereby inspiring the next generation of dedicated military personnel. November is "Veterans Month" in New Jersey and can be celebrated through educational lessons that include veterans and active service members in schools and higher education institutions across the State. Due to the strong values of the nation's veterans and active service members, it is altogether fitting and proper to urge educational institutions in New Jersey to include veterans and active service members in discussions about the military, military values, and leadership.
