This bill expands the Child Care Subsidy Program in Virginia to provide free child care to employees of licensed child care providers who meet certain eligibility criteria. Specifically, the bill requires the program to provide free child care to eligible employees who work directly with children for at least 30 hours per week, are employed by a publicly funded child care provider (excluding local school divisions), and are ineligible for the federal Child Care and Development Fund Plan. Eligibility is not contingent on the employee's household income, and no copayment is required from eligible employees. The bill also directs the Board of Education to adopt regulations and the Department of Education to implement policies and procedures necessary for the administration of the program.
