This bill requires the installation of diaper changing stations in certain public restrooms in New Jersey. Specifically, it mandates that group A (Assembly) or M (Mercantile) occupancies that are open to the public and maintain public restrooms must include a diaper changing station in at least one of the public restrooms for men and women, or in a dedicated unisex family restroom, when constructing a new restroom or substantially renovating an existing one. The bill also requires that all public buildings (government-owned group A or M occupancies) must have a diaper changing station in at least one public restroom for men and women, or in a unisex family restroom, by the first day of the 37th month following the bill's enactment. The Department of Community Affairs is responsible for promulgating rules and regulations to implement the law, and a reimbursement fund is established to help cover the costs for county, municipal, and school district entities.
