This bill establishes a new "limited religious wine license" that allows the holder to produce up to 5,000 gallons of wine specifically designated as kosher, Kosher for Passover, or sacramental wine, meaning it's prepared or sanctioned for religious use by a religious institution. A religious institution is defined as a registered non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the federal Internal Revenue Code. The license holder can then sell and distribute this wine on the premises of religious institutions, but only for consumption off those premises. The annual fee for this specialized license is set at $250. This new provision is being added to existing laws that classify and regulate various alcoholic beverage licenses, including different types of brewery, winery, distillery, and cidery licenses.
