This bill directs the State Auditor to conduct a performance review audit of the Victims of Crime Compensation Office (VCCO) in the Department of Law and Public Safety. The bill requires the performance review audit of the VCCO to analyze whether the VCCO is achieving economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in employing available resources and whether the office is in compliance with statutory law and regulations governing the VCCO's operations. The audit is to include an analysis of the office's use of federal and State allocated funding; a determination of whether the existing personnel of the office is adequate to meet the statutory mandate of the office; an evaluation of the efficiency of the office's internal operations; and recommendations to address any organizational deficiencies that may be revealed by the audit. The State Auditor is required by the bill to complete the audit and submit to the Governor and the Legislature a report summarizing the results of the audit within six months of the effective date of the bill.
