This bill repeals the "Medical Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act," which allowed terminally ill patients to request medication that the patient could self-administer to terminate their life. The bill removes the provision that exempted such actions from the criminal law prohibiting aiding suicide. The bill also amends an existing law to reinstate the duty of healthcare professionals to warn and protect potential victims when they have reasonable belief a patient intends to commit violence, even if the patient is a qualified terminally ill patient under the repealed law.
