This bill authorizes the Legislative Counsel in the Office of Legislative Services to accept proper and sufficient service of process on behalf of the State Legislature when either or both Houses are named defendants in any legal proceeding. The bill amends an existing law to add this new responsibility to the duties of the Legislative Counsel, which previously included drafting and reviewing legislative documents, providing legal assistance and opinions to the Legislature, and performing other duties as directed.
