This bill amends current law to apply a $10,000 limit on the payment of supplemental compensation at retirement for accumulated unused sick leave to all public officers and employees, regardless of when they began service. Current officers and employees will be permitted to retain any supplemental compensation for unused sick leave already accrued as of the bill's effective date. The bill also limits the carrying forward of vacation leave to one year only, but allows current officers and employees to retain any vacation leave already accrued as of the bill's effective date. The bill would not impair the obligation of any existing collective negotiations agreement or individual contract of employment.
