This bill amends Tennessee's school transportation law to increase the mileage threshold for approving conventional or Class D school buses to operate beyond their 18th year of service. Specifically, it changes the required mileage limit from less than 200,000 miles to less than 300,000 miles, and requires buses approved to operate beyond 18 years to be discontinued once they reach 300,000 miles, up from the previous 200,000 mile limit. The bill takes effect on July 1, 2024, except for the provisions related to promulgating rules, which take effect upon becoming law.
