This bill extends the period for which a vehicle safety inspection is valid from 12 months to 24 months for new motor vehicles (as defined in § 46.2-1500) that have a registered gross weight not exceeding 10,000 pounds and are inspected pursuant to the manufacturer's or distributor's inspection requirement. The bill also specifies that the Department of State Police shall provide an approval sticker with a validity period of 24 months at double the uniform price paid for a 12-month sticker. The provisions of the bill will become effective on July 1, 2025.
