This bill decriminalizes the possession of two ounces or less of marijuana. It amends the existing law, which previously made the possession of any amount of marijuana a criminal offense, by creating an exception for possession of up to two ounces. Under the proposed changes, possession of two ounces or less would be decriminalized, while possession of more than two ounces would still be considered a criminal offense, with the potential for increased penalties if the individual has prior drug convictions or the marijuana is packaged to appear as low-THC hemp extract.
