This bill establishes the Mountaineer Games Sports League (MGSL), a state-wide sports league for adult residents of West Virginia. The MGSL will be managed by a board of directors appointed by the Governor and will offer a variety of sports, including basketball, baseball/softball, flag-football, and others. The league will partner with institutions of higher education, community colleges, and other local organizations to create team affiliates and competitions. The bill also establishes the "Mountaineer Games Governor's Cup," an annual competition between West Virginia University and Marshall University athletic teams to promote the MGSL. The purpose of the MGSL is to promote physical activity and improve the health and wellness of West Virginia residents.
