This bill: 1. Requires school districts and charter schools that employ officers on school campuses (including peace officers, reserve officers, off-duty officers, retired officers, and juvenile probation officers) to train them on how to recognize and effectively interact with children with disabilities. 2. Expands the School Safety Program to allow school districts and charter schools to use program funds to support the costs of school safety officers, in addition to school resource officers and juvenile probation officers. It also allows them to use funds for safety technology, training, and infrastructure improvements if they cannot place the officers included in their approved program proposal. 3. Exempts school building blueprints and floor plans from being considered public records, making them exempt from public disclosure laws. The bill aims to enhance school safety by improving officer training, expanding the types of school safety personnel that can be funded, and protecting sensitive school infrastructure information.
