This bill transfers the licensing and regulating of the production, processing, and testing of cannabis products from the Washington state liquor and cannabis board to the department of agriculture. All references to the board in the existing law will now be construed to mean the director or the department of agriculture when referring to the functions transferred in this bill. The bill also establishes a process for the transfer of records, funds, and rules from the board to the department of agriculture, and provides that the transfer of these functions does not affect the validity of any prior acts performed. The bill takes effect on July 1, 2024.
