Bill Summary

AN ACT Relating to advanced placement, international 2 baccalaureate, and Cambridge international exams; amending RCW 3 28A.600.280; and adding a new section to chapter 28A.600 RCW. 4

AI Summary

This bill has two key provisions: 1. The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) must subsidize student fees related to exam registration and administration for students taking Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Cambridge International exams. The OSPI and other recipients of state funds for this purpose cannot use the funds to supplant federal and private funds that already subsidize these fees. 2. The 2026 report on dual credit programs (which include AP, IB, and Cambridge International) must include an analysis of whether the policy in Section 1 (the fee subsidies) resulted in a change in exam passage rates and the demographics of students participating in these advanced programs.
