This bill amends existing law to revise procedures for a child's immunization data to be included in the state's voluntary immunization registry. The key provisions are: 1) The registry will contain a child's immunization information only if the parent, guardian, or other responsible person chooses to have the child included, rather than the child being automatically included unless the parent chooses not to. 2) The information that can be disclosed from the registry is limited to certain authorized entities, such as healthcare providers, schools, and daycare facilities, and parents have free and open access to information about their own child. 3) Disclosing information from the registry outside of the authorized uses is a misdemeanor and subjects the person to civil damages. The bill also declares an emergency and provides an effective date of July 1, 2024.
