This bill amends the Vehicle and Traffic Law to include "red cross vehicles" in the definition of "authorized emergency vehicles." Red cross vehicles are defined as any vehicle owned or leased and operated by the American National Red Cross, or any chapter or branch thereof, that is equipped and clearly marked as a red cross vehicle. However, the bill specifies that the operators of red cross vehicles shall not exercise the privileges granted to operators of other authorized emergency vehicles, such as the ability to disregard certain traffic rules.
