This bill amends the Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) to prohibit the Department of Workplace Standards from promulgating regulations on child labor that are more restrictive than those promulgated by the United States Secretary of Labor. The bill creates new sections in KRS 339.220 to 339.450 to specify the occupations that persons under 18 years of age and under 16 years of age are prohibited from being employed in, with some exceptions for those enrolled in apprenticeship or student-learning programs. Additionally, the bill repeals KRS 339.230, which previously had restrictions on the employment of minors between 14 and 18 years old, and requires the Department of Workplace Standards to repeal its existing regulation on the subject.
