This bill amends the Mississippi Code of 1972 to authorize the expungement of a conviction for felony embezzlement by a state, county, city, or town officer 14 years after the successful completion of all terms and conditions of the sentence. The bill provides that a person is eligible for only one felony expunction, and the court has discretion to grant the petition if it determines the applicant is rehabilitated from the offense. The expungement order would restore the person's status as if the arrest, indictment, or conviction never occurred, with some exceptions for certain purposes.
