This bill prohibits state departments in Missouri from spending money on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, which are defined as programs, staffing, or other efforts that promote the preferential treatment of individuals based on race, color, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, or ancestry. The bill also prohibits state departments from mandating, requiring, or incentivizing private sector employers to implement similar DEI programs as a condition of awarding a state contract. However, the bill does not prohibit state departments from following federal and state employment and anti-discrimination laws or complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
