This bill prohibits public educational institutions in Nebraska, including the University of Nebraska, state colleges, and community colleges, from taking certain actions related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. Specifically, it bans these institutions from requiring employees to participate in DEI programs, spending public funds on such programs, or establishing offices or roles dedicated to DEI coordination and implementation. The bill also restricts policies or procedures that influence the composition of the workforce based on race, sex, or color, and prohibits the promotion of certain related theories as official positions of the institutions. Employees who are required to participate in DEI programs are granted the ability to seek injunctive relief against the institution. However, the bill does not preclude training on sexual harassment or the operation of legal compliance offices.
