This bill, the "Child Protection Act of 2024," amends existing law to modify the exception allowing minors under 18 to marry. The bill removes the various circumstances where parental or court consent was previously permitted, and instead allows a minor to marry only if the minor has been conferred the rights of majority through a court order pursuant to state law. The bill also provides that the act shall become effective on November 1, 2024.
