This bill amends the New York General Business Law to require manufacturers of digital electronic equipment sold in the state to provide retail sellers with a one-through-ten "repair score" based on criteria developed by the Attorney General. The score, which must be prominently displayed near product pricing information, is intended to provide consumers with information about the repairability of the product. The bill also requires manufacturers to make detailed scoring information publicly available on their websites. The new requirements will take effect one year after the bill becomes law.
