This bill amends Oklahoma's election laws to allow individuals residing in a dependent school district without a secondary school to be eligible to file as a candidate for the board of education of a geographically adjacent school district. The existing law requires candidates for school district board of education to have resided in the district for at least six months prior to the filing period and to have a high school diploma or equivalent. This bill adds an exception to this eligibility requirement for individuals living in certain dependent school districts without a secondary school. The bill will become effective on November 1, 2024.
