This bill alters the licensure requirements that the State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists may waive for applicants for a license to practice clinical marriage and family therapy in Maryland who are already licensed or certified in another state. The key changes are: (1) removing the requirement that the out-of-state license or certification must be equivalent to or exceed Maryland's requirements, (2) adding new requirements that the applicant must have no history of disciplinary action and must not have committed any act that would be grounds for discipline or denial of licensure in Maryland, and (3) allowing the Board to require the applicant to pass an examination on the requirements of Maryland's licensing laws, but prohibiting the Board from requiring the applicant to pass a national certification exam.
