This bill changes the laws in Missouri to give certain individuals and businesses a "right to repair" information from certain manufacturers of consumer products, such as farm machinery, construction machinery, and forestry machinery. Owners and independent repair providers have the right to access the same diagnostic and repair information, service parts, documentation, and tools that manufacturers provide to their authorized repair providers, on fair and reasonable terms. 2. Manufacturers must provide any special documentation, tools, and parts needed to disable and reset electronic security locks on equipment. 4. During a warranty period, manufacturers must provide the necessary parts, tools, and documentation to repair the product at an equitable price. 5. Manufacturers cannot exclude security-related diagnostic, service, or repair information from what they provide to owners and independent repair providers. 6. Violations of this law can result in a $10,000 fine per violation, to be distributed to schools. The bill aims to ensure that owners and independent repair providers have access to the information and resources needed to diagnose, maintain, and repair certain consumer products.
