This bill, known as the Child Care Capacity Building and Workforce Act, aims to address the lack of licensed child care programs in Nebraska. It creates the Child Care Capacity Building and Workforce Grant Program, which will provide grants to eligible recipients (cities, counties, nonprofits, and others) to increase child care capacity, support the child care workforce, and establish new child care programs in underserved areas. The bill also establishes the Family Child Care Home Grant Program to support new and existing licensed family child care home programs and create regional facilitator hubs to provide administrative and technical support. The Department of Economic Development will administer both grant programs and submit annual reports to the Legislature on their progress.
