This bill amends the Residential Landlord-Tenant Code to establish a process for landlords to dispose of a deceased tenant's personal property and surrender the dwelling unit when a tenant passes away. The key provisions allow the tenant to designate a representative to collect or dispose of their personal property upon their death, require the landlord to provide notice to the representative or the tenant's estate, and grant the landlord the ability to sell, store, or donate the tenant's remaining personal property of value after the tenancy terminates. The bill takes effect on November 1, 2024.
