This bill amends a previous law to apply the provisions of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law and other laws to certain crematoriums located in the Town of Tonawanda that have been subject to a consent order issued by the Department of Environmental Conservation. The bill finds that the public health, safety, and welfare of the residents in and around the Town of Tonawanda is a matter of substantial state concern, and that the state has a vital interest in the oversight of places of final disposition and the protection of its citizens affected by such places. The bill repeals a previous provision that exempted certain funeral entities from the application of the law to their crematoriums.
