This bill permits the practice of lane-splitting by motorcycles, which refers to a motorcycle driving between rows of stopped or slow-moving vehicles in the same lane. The bill sets certain restrictions, such as a maximum speed differential of 10 mph between the motorcycle and surrounding traffic, and a requirement that the posted speed limit on the highway be greater than 50 mph. The bill also authorizes the administrator to develop rules and regulations to carry out the purposes of this section, and the provisions authorizing lane-splitting will cease on January 28, 2025.
