This bill alters the definition of "legally protected health care" to include certain gender-affirming treatment, such as hormone therapy, voice alterations, and surgical procedures. It prohibits health occupations boards from taking disciplinary action against health care practitioners for providing or supporting the provision of legally protected health care, including gender-affirming treatment, as long as it is in accordance with the standard of care and state laws. The bill also restricts the use of state resources to support interstate investigations or proceedings seeking to impose liability or sanctions on individuals for activities related to legally protected health care, including gender-affirming treatment, if such activities would not be subject to liability or sanction in Maryland.
