This bill enacts the "Tennessee Voluntary Do Not Sell Firearms Act," which creates a process for a person to voluntarily file a waiver of their firearm rights. The waiver prohibits the person from purchasing or possessing a firearm, and can be revoked after 7 days. The bill requires the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to enter the waiver into the national background check system and remove it upon revocation. It also makes it a crime to sell or transfer a firearm to someone with an active waiver. The bill also makes the records related to the waiver confidential, except for disclosure to law enforcement or the applicant. The administrative office of the courts will develop the waiver and revocation forms.
