This bill amends the Public School Code of 1949 to allow the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) to establish separate playoffs and championships for athletics between boundary schools (public schools) and nonboundary schools (charter, parochial, and private schools). Before implementing such a change, the PIAA's Executive Board and the Pennsylvania Athletic Oversight Committee must hold public meetings in each district to gather testimony and comments on the proposal. The Board must then hold an open meeting to deliberate and decide whether to require separate playoffs and championships for all sports, certain sports, or none. The bill sets out the process for the Board's decision-making and requires the PIAA to provide the Oversight Committee with the rationale for its final decision.
