This bill amends the laws governing barbers and cosmetologists in Kentucky. It requires all licensed barbers and persons licensed under the Board of Cosmetology to receive up to one hour of free, online domestic violence training as a condition of licensure. The training will focus on recognizing the signs of domestic violence, responding appropriately, and referring clients to resources. The bill provides civil and criminal immunity for barbers, cosmetologists, and their employers who respond to or fail to respond to signs of domestic violence. The bill also requires the respective licensing boards to make the domestic violence training available online at no cost to the attendee.
