This joint resolution establishes the "Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizen Transportation Services Task Force" to comprehensively study and recommend improvements in transportation services for people with disabilities and senior citizens. The task force will consist of seven members, including state agency representatives and advocates from organizations representing people with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, as well as senior citizens. Members will serve without compensation but can be reimbursed for expenses. The task force will examine critical transportation challenges, including identifying obstacles faced by people with disabilities and seniors, exploring ways to enhance infrastructure and technology, improving independent travel training, developing real-time transit technology, and investigating how automated and connected vehicle technologies can increase transportation accessibility. Within 18 months of its organizational meeting, the task force is required to submit a detailed report with findings and legislative proposals to the Governor and Legislature, after which the task force will be dissolved. The resolution aims to address transportation equity and mobility challenges for vulnerable populations by bringing together diverse stakeholders to conduct a systematic study and develop actionable recommendations.
