This bill requires the Commissioner of Education to establish an educator employment web portal and a virtual applicant profile system, within the limits of appropriated funds, and both must be fully operational within 12 months of the bill's enactment. The web portal will aggregate job postings from public schools, which are defined as schools operated by local or regional school districts, charter schools, renaissance school projects, educational services commissions, or any other local education agency, as well as approved private schools for students with disabilities, allowing educators to search for positions in one place and providing direct links to school-specific application systems. The virtual applicant profile system will allow job seekers to store and manage commonly required employment information, such as their name, date of birth, education, employment history, and teacher certifications, in a secure format for use when applying to positions through school-specific application systems. The Commissioner has the authority to contract with private vendors or reconstruct existing Department of Education websites to fulfill these requirements, and neither the new systems nor the existing application processes will prevent schools from using their own application procedures or requesting additional materials from applicants.
