This bill creates a registry of persons convicted of the criminal offense of domestic assault within the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The registry will include the person's name, date of birth, conviction date, county or counties of convictions, and a current photograph. The court clerk must forward a certified copy of the qualifying conviction and the defendant's date of birth to the bureau within 60 days of the conviction. The person required to register must pay a $150 fee, with $50 retained by the court clerk and $100 remitted to the bureau for administering the registry. The bureau must remove the person's information from the registry after a certain period based on the number of prior convictions, or upon written request from the victim. The bill applies to offenses committed on or after January 1, 2025.
