This bill adds 10 additional assistant district attorney general positions and 10 additional criminal investigator positions to be designated and assigned to judicial districts in Tennessee that contain a state correctional facility. The additional positions are intended to conduct specialized criminal investigations and prosecutions related to criminal offenses committed in or around state correctional institutions. The bill also provides the district attorneys general with access to the premises, records, and evidence of the correctional institutions. The new positions and requirements take effect on July 1, 2024.
