This bill amends the Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 37, to require the Department of Children's Services to maintain specific staffing levels for case managers. For the first six months after the bill's effective date, each region must have enough case managers to limit caseloads to either 20 active cases for initial assessments and investigations or 20 children monitored in active ongoing service cases. After the first six months, the caseload limit is reduced to 14 active cases or 14 children in active ongoing cases. This is intended to ensure the Department has sufficient staffing to adequately manage child abuse and neglect cases.
