This bill amends Tennessee's law on the nonsectarian, nonreligious academic study of the Bible in schools. It specifies that the authorization for such courses extends to public charter schools, and makes changes to the approval process and notice requirements. The bill requires the Department of Education to publish a list of schools offering approved Bible courses and the approved academic standards, and requires schools to publish their approved Bible course curricula. The bill also directs the State Board of Education to include the elective Bible course as an approved high school course, and requires the Department to notify schools annually of their ability to offer the state-funded Bible course.
