Bill Summary

To require the full minimum wage for tipped workers with tips on top

AI Summary

This bill proposes a gradual increase in the minimum hourly wage that employers must pay to tipped workers in Massachusetts. Over the course of five years, the required minimum hourly wage for tipped workers would increase from 64% of the state minimum wage to 100% of the state minimum wage by 2029. Employers would be required to pay the difference between the tipped worker's hourly wage and the state minimum wage until the full minimum wage is reached. The bill would also allow employers to administer a "tip pool" that distributes tips among all workers, including non-tipped workers, as long as the employer is paying at least the full state minimum wage.
