This bill authorizes county sealers to test and verify the accuracy of electric vehicle (EV) chargers operated by public agencies, such as cities, counties, or local authorities, beginning January 1, 2026. If a charger is found to be "incorrect," the sealer can require it to be marked "out of order" and repaired within 30 days. The bill also allows county boards of supervisors to charge an annual registration fee for the cost of inspecting and testing these EV chargers. Additionally, the bill exempts EV chargers owned by local publicly owned electric utilities from testing by county sealers if they meet certain requirements for self-inspection and documentation. The bill also addresses the reimbursement of local agencies for any state-mandated costs.
