This bill, the Improving Access to Maternal Health for Military and Dependent Moms Act of 2024, requires the Secretary of Defense to submit a report on access to maternal health care within the military health system for covered individuals (military members and their dependents) over the preceding 2-year period. The report will analyze the availability and timeliness of maternal health services at military medical treatment facilities and through TRICARE network providers, including staffing shortages, challenges faced by covered individuals, and continuity of care during permanent changes of station. The report will also provide recommendations and legislative proposals to address identified issues and improve the delivery and availability of maternal health services for the military community.
