This bill requires the fiscal note prepared by the Department of Legislative Services for proposed legislation to include a family impact statement. The purpose of the family impact statement is to indicate whether the bill may or will have an impact on families in the state, and if so, to specify the type and category of impact, including influence on marriage and family stability, marriage promotion, and family welfare. The bill also prohibits a committee from voting on a bill unless the family impact statement is attached to or included in the fiscal note.
