This bill requires private bus operators that provide regular route motorbus service to provide at least four months' written notice to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission and New Jersey Transit Corporation prior to substantially curtailing such service. They must also provide at least three months' written notice to customers and hold at least one public meeting in the affected area within 15 days of notifying customers. Violators may be subject to civil penalties up to $10,000 per violation. The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission is tasked with adopting rules and regulations to implement these requirements and ensure compliance.
